Try a different USB cable

Try using a different USB cable to see if that fixes the issue. Longer USB cables can also cause issues so shorter ones are recommended.

Even if the cable works with your printer, it may not work with your scanner because of the higher data transfer rates needed.

Try a different USB port

Sometimes a USB port can be finicky. Try a different USB port on your computer to see if that fixes the issue.

If you have an older scanner, try connecting it to a USB 2.0 port rather than a USB 3.0 port. Many older scanners are designed for USB 2.0 and may not work properly with newer USB 3.0 connections.
