Check Power & Connection

Let's make sure your scanner is properly powered and connected.

Is your scanner plugged in and turned on?

If you're using a scanner connected with a wire (USB, FireWire, etc.), make sure it's plugged in and turned on.

I know this sounds obvious, but it's surprising how many people forget to check this before using VueScan. So it's helpful to check this first.

Not all scanners have a power button. If you're using a scanner that doesn't have a power button, make sure that it's plugged in to your computer.

Try turning off your scanner and then back on

As obvious as it sounds, sometimes turning the scanner off and then back on can fix the problem.

We would also recommend leaving it off a few minutes before turning it back on. This is because sometimes the scanner doesn't fully turn off if you just turn it off for a second.

Not all scanners have a power button. If you're using a scanner that doesn't have a power button, try turning it off by either unplugging it from power or unplugging it from your computer.
