Entering Serial Number Into VueScan

If you have a problem using your serial number with VueScan:
  1. Make sure you're using an Administrator account
  2. Run VueScan
  3. Enter the info from the receipt into the three boxes
  4. Press the OK button
  5. Use the "Help | About" command ("VueScan | About" on Mac OS X)
  6. Verify that all three boxes contain the word "Ok"
  7. Do a preview
  8. Use the "Help | About" command ("VueScan | About" on Mac OS X)
  9. Verify that all three boxes contain the word "Ok"
If step 6 fails, try copying the info from the invoice to the clipboard and pasting it into the three boxes. If step 9 fails, make sure your anti-virus software hasn't corrupted the vuescan.dat file.

If you're using Windows, you should make sure that your registration database isn't corrupted. You can do this by running regedit.exe in the Windows directory. If it reports an error, then contact Microsoft about how to get this repaired. If you're installing on Windows 7 or Vista, make sure you're using the Administrator account.

If you're using Mac OS X, make sure that you're using an Administrator account when you enter the serial number. The serial number is stored in /Users/Shared/.vuescanrc

If you try all this and your serial number still doesn't work, please send an e-mail containing the non-working serial number and the e-mail address you used when you first purchased VueScan.
